Ownership Manifest

Everything you get.
Nothing held back.

This is the complete list of what's delivered when you build with Own the Works. Source code, database, hosting setup, documentation, and the legal rights to all of it.

Full source code

Every file, every component, every API route. Delivered as a private GitHub repository in your organization. We don't keep a copy unless you ask us to.

  • Next.js App Router project (TypeScript)
  • tRPC API layer with typed procedures
  • Drizzle ORM schema + all migrations
  • All UI components (shadcn/ui base + custom)
  • All configuration files (Tailwind, Next.js, TypeScript)

Your database

Your customer records, job history, invoices, and pricebook live in a database you control. We provision it in your cloud account — not ours.

  • MySQL/TiDB database in your account
  • Full schema documentation
  • Backup and restore procedures
  • Migration scripts for future changes
  • Read replica setup (if requested)

Hosting setup

We deploy to your preferred cloud provider. You pay the hosting bill directly — no markup, no middleman. We document the deployment process so your team can do it without us.

  • Vercel, Railway, or Render deployment
  • Custom domain configuration
  • SSL certificate setup
  • Environment variable documentation
  • CI/CD pipeline (GitHub Actions)

All integrations

Every third-party integration is documented with the API keys, webhook endpoints, and configuration steps. You can swap providers without touching us.

  • Stripe payment processing
  • Google Business Profile API
  • Twilio SMS (review requests, confirmations)
  • Google Maps (service-area validation, dispatch routing)
  • Postmark transactional email

Perpetual license

You own the code. Not a license to use it — you own it. You can modify it, resell it, or hand it to another developer. We can't revoke access.

  • MIT-equivalent license on all custom code
  • No usage fees, no seat fees, no transaction fees
  • No vendor lock-in of any kind
  • Right to modify and redistribute
  • Right to white-label for your own clients

90-day bug fix guarantee

If something we built breaks in the 90 days after launch, we fix it at no charge. This covers bugs in our code — not third-party API changes or your team's modifications.

  • Covers all bugs in delivered code
  • 24-hour response SLA for critical issues
  • 72-hour response SLA for non-critical issues
  • Excludes third-party API changes
  • Excludes modifications made by your team

Documentation

We write documentation for your team, not for us. Every major feature has a plain-English runbook. Your office manager should be able to add a new service without calling us.

  • Admin runbook (adding services, pricing, staff)
  • Field tech mobile app guide
  • Customer-facing booking flow walkthrough
  • Developer onboarding guide
  • Architecture decision records (ADRs)

AI-ready infrastructure

Your site ships with everything an AI agent needs to understand and interact with your business — without you having to do anything extra.

  • llms.txt and llms-full.txt at root
  • Schema.org JSON-LD on every page
  • /api/catalog returning structured service data
  • Per-page metadata (title, description, canonical)
  • robots.txt and sitemap.xml

What's not included

We believe in being explicit about scope. These are things that are genuinely not part of the base build.

  • Ongoing hosting fees (you pay your cloud provider directly)
  • Third-party API subscription costs (Stripe, Twilio, Google Maps)
  • Content writing or copywriting (unless scoped separately)
  • Ongoing maintenance after the 90-day guarantee period
  • Custom integrations not in the original scope

If we disappear tomorrow, your platform keeps running.

This is not a hypothetical. We deliver source code to your GitHub repository. Your database is in your cloud account. Your domain is registered in your name. Your Stripe account is yours. Every API key is documented and owned by you.

If Own the Works closes tomorrow, you have everything you need to keep operating, hand the code to another developer, or maintain it yourself. There is no “we need to export your data” moment. There is no “your subscription has been cancelled” email. The platform is yours.

This is the core promise. Everything else follows from it.

Questions about scope?

Every project starts with a scoping call. We'll tell you exactly what's in and out before you sign anything.
